Apple didn't raise prices on the new iPhones as some analysts expected. New Apple Watches go on sale Wednesday, while AirPods Pro ship on September 23. Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, just revealed the iPhone 14 pro.
The 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro is smaller. iPhone 14 Max is the larger model. The iPhone 14 Pro costs $999 and the larger model $1099. Same as last year's models. Preorders start Friday and ship next week.
These devices sport a revised front design with a reduced camera cutout, expanding the screen. Apple calls the cutout a "dynamic island" that may display notifications or baseball scores.

Apple established a cooperation with Globalstar on Wednesday to connect its iPhone 14 series to emergency satellites. The capability connects an iPhone 14's antennae to a satellite to relay messages in cell tower-less areas.
Apple's manager of satellite modeling and simulation, Ashley Williams, claimed a phone algorithm compresses text messages so they "take less than 15 seconds to send" to a satellite, a ground station, and an emergency service provider.
The emergency satellite service is free for two years with an iPhone 14. Globalstar would "allocate 85% of its current and future network capacity" to serve the iPhone 14 emergency satellite service, according to a filing.
Satellite communications, which includes numerous networks that support specialist phones, is seeing increased investment. SpaceX and AST SpaceMobile have partnered with mobile service providers to bring satellite services straight to consumer handsets. Tim Cook unveiled the iPhone 14. Apple has unveiled a 14 Plus and a 14 so far.
The iPhone 14 Plus replaces the "iPhone 13 mini" with a 6.7-inch variant. The iPhone 14 costs $799 and the Plus $899. Preorders begin Sept. 9 and sales begin Sept. 16. Plus won't ship until October.
